The Crazy Week of Antonio Cassano

 6 years, 9 months ago 0 Comments

Antonio Cassano has had quite a career, for 20 years the little forward has been plying his trade in Serie A and a brief spell with Real Madrid in La Liga. The little rascal has never been too far from controversy and not only is he known for his tenacious and aggressive playing style, he has also courted criticism in the past for his stance that no gay men should play the game and for a changing room bust up which saw him attack Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni in 2013.

It should come as no surprise then that Cassano, even now in the twilight of his career, would be getting even more column inches. It started last week when the veteran signed for Hellas Verona, a smart move to finish his playing days, that was until this morning when, after just 8 days, Cassano decided that enough was enough and called time on his career.

Whist this was a little shocking, there are always reasons behind such decisions and who knows what went on behind the scenes, maybe those nutcase ultras had a word in his ear.

Four hours later however, the striker performed a U-turn on a U-turn and rejoined Verona following what he referred to as a “moment of weakness”.

“This morning I had a moment of weakness, but I want to keep on playing. Sometimes I make errors, but I want to win this bet.

“After a year and a half living with my family, I missed my wife and my children. She is my strength, and she said that they couldn’t see me not playing football. That made me emotional. I have failed, and I ask forgiveness from everyone.

“Now I want to have the last miracle of my career, I want to have a good season. I still have a lot to offer.”

We wouldn’t expect anything less from the man, good luck this season fella, you fucking lunatic.
