Harry Redknapp And Another Funny Transfer Story

 7 years, 2 months ago 0 Comments

Arry Redknapp is much like Marmite, many love him, more loathe him but nobody can deny that the cockney wideboy has been there, seen it and done it. Redknapp has managed since the ‘stick a grand in my backpocket and I’ll sort it’ days right the way up to the PC football days where you could no longer have a beer at half-time.

Since effectively retiring from the game, people can’t wait for another Redknapp story and he has been speaking with his sponsors Betsafe about a couple of transfer dealings that he has done down the years.

Back in the day Harry got a touch of luck when his mis-firing striker Benjani was at Pompey and he got a phonecall from Sven Goran Eriksen at newly rich Manchester City, with an offer to take the flop off his hands we’ll let Harry tell you the rest.

Harry was right and Benjani went on to become a failure at Man City, scoring just 4 times in 24 appearances for the club before being loaned out to Sunderland and then sold to Blackburn.

We are more used to seeing ‘Arry leaning out of his car window letting us know the transfer updates but sadly those days have gone and we now rely on these interviews to hear his little nuggets of his footballing days, tax dodger? Maybe, wheeler dealer? Probably, legend of the game? Absolutely.
