Harry Kane Claims War Cry On Alan Shearer’s Record

Last month we asked if Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could be the man to break the longstanding English Premier League record of Alan Shearer. ‘Wazza’ may have broken Sir Bobby Charlton’s legendary England record last month, but Man United’s angry Scouser has been somewhat goal-shy since the start of the new season and Mr Shearer can seemingly sleep peacefully at night, safe in the knowledge that his record might be staying around for a bit longer.

However, Tottenham Hotspur’s man of the season from last year, Harry Kane believes he could be the man to finally topple the all-time record of 260 goals. How’s that for a bit of confidence! Kane, currently 22-years-old would have to equal 18 goals per season until the age of 35 – all quite doable, but Kane will have to stay away from injuries and of course fight off the temptation of ‘doing a Gareth Bale’ and move to a sunnier climate for more money and a greater chance of trophy success.

Speaking to the ‘Match Of The Day’ Magazine, Kane said:

‘That’s a lot of goals but it just shows how good he was to score that many – 260 in the Prem is incredible. I’ll take my time and try to get 18 per season, but 35 years of age seems a long way away.’

Before throwing compliments at the legendary Geordie:

‘He’s a top bloke and an idol of mine,’ Kane continues. ‘He scored so many goals. He told me to keep confident and when you get your chances just take them.

‘I haven’t scored much this season but there’s no rush, I’ve got to be patient, it’s a long old season ahead so that’s important.’

Kane seems to be taking a while to display the goal-poaching talents, which struck the fear into the hearts of opposing defences last season, but if he dies find that form – he could well be a good shout for all-time English Premier League goal-scorer.

Bookmakers compare the most outstanding players and teams now in The English Premier League. William Hill is one of them with constantly updated football betting odds online, it’s tempting to back Kane or aforementioned Shearer to become the highest goal-scorer in Premiership history.
