Jeremy Menez Loses Chunk Of His Ear During Bordeaux Debut From Hell

When it comes to the subject of nightmare debuts from – the most famous one that springs to mind is that of poor old Jonathan Woodgate’s comical debut for Real Madrid, where he conceded an own goal and was subsequently sent off for two yellow cards. Here’s the video of that event for you young’ns:

But even Mr Woodgate can have sympathy for Bordeaux debut boy Jeremy Menez, who lost a chunk of his ear last night in a freak accident with Lorient’s Didier Ndong. The incident occurred as the Lorient midfielder stood on the 29-year-old’s head, accidentally taking out a chunk of the forward’s ear in the process.
