John Arne Riise Kicks Off The War Of Words Ahead Of Gerrard Testimonial

We’ll never forget when the story broke about Craig Bellamy hit John Arne Riise with a golf club whilst the two were playing for Liverpool back in 2007, and then of course there was THAT goal celebration after scoring against Barcelona. It’s fair to say the two have a bit of history, Bellamy’s words on the golf club incident were “I just whacked him across the backside with the club. You couldn’t really call it a swing. It was just a thwack really. Ginge panicked. He curled up in a ball with a blanket.”

Well as fate would have it the two ex-Liverpool men are both on the bill for Steven Gerrard’s testimonial and of course, they are playing on opposing teams, after hearing the news John Arne Riise posted this excellent bit of banter on Twitter.

Now of course we don’t expect anything to kick off during a testimonial but we’re certainly looking forward to any more social media banter that will no doubt occur in the build up to the game.
